8 Ton Biomass Boiler Economic Analysis

If an 8 ton boiler needs to burn coal, most clients in most provinces and municipalities in China will not be able to afford it, because the state currently has very strict control over this aspect. Many people may think that coal is a cheap and durable fuel that surpasses all others. However, the fact is that the coal currently used is mainly lignite, which is highly polluting and contains a large amount of non-combustible substances, resulting in more heat consumption and unnecessary waste.

An 8 ton boiler uses biomass pellets as fuel, which are renewable, have low operating costs, and contain little sulfur dioxide/nitrogen oxides. According to the documents of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, biomass pellets are not classified as high-polluting fuels. In full consideration of the local environmental impact assessment, it is approved to use biomass boilers based on actual conditions.

The operating cost calculation of an 8 ton biomass boiler is based on the following:

1. Conditions: Evaporation capacity of 8 tons, coal price of 650 yuan/t (heat value of 5,000 kcal/kg), natural gas price of 3.7 yuan/Nm3; (heat value of 8,500 kcal/Nm3;), biomass pellets price of 850 yuan/t (heat value of 4,200 kcal/kg).

2. Based on the law of energy conservation and the experience of equipment operation conditions, when the 8 ton boiler is running at full load, it consumes 1.2 tons of coal per hour, consumes 613 Nm3; of natural gas, and consumes 1.4 tons of material.

3. Fuel costs: To generate 8 tons of steam, 780 yuan of coal is needed, 2,268 yuan of natural gas is needed, and 1,190 yuan of material is needed.

In conclusion, the operating cost of biomass pellets fuel is between coal and natural gas, which helps reduce production costs for enterprises and is relatively clean for the environment we live in. It fully meets the path of sustainable development. Natural gas is indeed a clean energy, but considering the current energy reserves and development technology in China, the natural gas reserves are still very limited and cannot meet the industrial production needs.

From a long-term perspective, biomass pellets are the development trend. Taking an 8 ton boiler as an example, it operates for 10 hours a day and 260 days a year. If a biomass boiler is used, the annual operating cost is 3.094 million yuan; if a natural gas boiler is used, the annual operating cost is 5.896 million yuan. After a year, the operating cost can be saved by 2.8 million yuan. From the perspective of policy, even if it is operated for 3/5 years and then invested again, it is still a cost-saving measure.
