Are all coal-fired boilers not good
Coal pollution is the main source of air pollution in China, with over 60% of dust, over 70% of sulfur dioxide, and 50% of nitrogen oxides in the atmosphere all related to coal combustion. Developing clean coal technology has become a consensus in the industry to address issues such as high energy consumption and pollution in China’s coal-fired industrial boilers.
Industrial boilers are the second largest coal-fired users in China, with an annual coal consumption of over 700 million tons, making them one of the most energy consuming equipment. At the same time, due to the generally low operating efficiency of boilers in use, energy waste is quite serious. In addition, the large amount of smoke and dust emitted by industrial boilers, as well as pollutants such as SO2 and NOX, are one of the sources of atmospheric coal smoke pollution in China. Therefore, energy-saving transformation of industrial boilers, especially coal-fired industrial boilers, is of great significance for achieving the overall goal of energy conservation and emission reduction in China. At present, China is using approximately 680000 coal-fired industrial boilers, of which over 80% are chain boilers with lower operating efficiency. There is great market potential for energy-saving transformation. It is expected that by 2015, a boiler renovation with a total capacity of approximately 75000 steam tons can be completed, and the annual energy-saving capacity can reach 5 million tons of standard coal.
Due to the constraints of fuel prices and operating costs, the proportion of fuel, gas, and electric boilers in industrial boilers is very small. Efficient, energy-saving, and environmentally friendly coal-fired industrial boilers are still the focus of current boiler product development. Coal accounts for about 70% of China’s energy consumption, and the energy consumption mode dominated by coal is unlikely to make significant changes in the short term. Therefore, adopting clean coal technology to transform coal-fired boilers is the most practical and economical choice.
Actually, there are still energy-saving and environmentally friendly coal-fired boiler technologies available at present. Its advantages include high thermal efficiency, a burnout rate of over 98%, and a boiler operating thermal efficiency of no less than 88%; The second is fully enclosed and automated control, which can achieve unmanned operation; Thirdly, it is clean and environmentally friendly, with smoke and dust emissions less than 30mg/Nm3 and sulfur dioxide emissions less than 100mg/Nm3. The emissions of harmful gases and smoke can meet the emission standards of fuel and gas boilers. In addition, this type of coal-fired boiler adopts auxiliary gas ignition, which can be started and stopped immediately during operation, saving fuel. Compared with traditional coal-fired boilers, it saves more than 30% energy.
The main issue is still awareness, and it is necessary to further deepen the concept of energy conservation and environmental protection in people’s hearts. In addition, there are still misconceptions about the understanding of coal-fired boilers. Many people unilaterally believe that coal consumption will inevitably be high and polluting, and that energy conservation and emission reduction must rely on gas. In fact, this concept is incorrect. Coal can fully achieve efficient and clean utilization, such as using energy-saving and emission reducing coal-fired boiler technology.
